Welcome to Soulful Sunday Yin Yoga.

I believe that Sundays are made for Yin. Finishing the week with this meditative practice gives you time and space to reflect and integrate what you lived and experienced. Pausing to notice the quality of your breath and mind and tuning into the sensations of your body. Yin Yoga teaches you to listen. It teaches you to listen to the subtleties, which so often get swallowed up in our busy every day. Your body has its own language and there is always room in the body for a conversation you can listen to. 

The practice also prepares your body, mind, and heart for the week ahead. It´s like a reset, an emptying of your cup,

so you can be open and present to however life is unfolding moment by moment. 

Yin Yoga incorporates principles of traditional Chinese medicine and Taoist principles, which believe there are pathways (meridians) of Qi (energy) that run through our bodies. 

In Traditional Chinese 5-Element Theory spring is associated with the Wood element. Spring and the wood element relate to beginnings, creation, optimism, activity, expansion and power. In life, all growth relies on that energy. Wood energy is creative. The  Liver and Gall Bladder are at their peak of activity during the spring, making it a perfect time to focus on supporting their function through certain poses. 

Yin yoga targets the "yin-tissues" in the body. The deep connective tissues, like your fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones. Because you stay in the poses for a longer period of time (2-5min or longer), the practice helps you stretch and lengthen those  tissues while also teaching you how to breathe and be present through discomfort.

 Yin Yoga is perfect for beginner.  It promotes flexibility, stillness, observing the body, and quieting the mind. On an energetic level, Yin yoga helps to improve energy flow and enhances the flow of chi in the organs as well as offering huge mental and emotional benefits.


My weekly yin sessions with Lisa have been a true gift, and an appointment I would not want to miss for anything in the world. There is something truly anchoring about  allowing yourself to truly pause, show up authentically in the very safe space that Lisa creates, and allow the floor and props to support you and allow you to release all the weight of the week. After every session, I feel more grounded, relaxed, and I sleep much better. Most importantly however, I feel the yin sessions are helping strengthen my resilience, reminding me that support (both physical and emotional) is all within easy reach. -F. Lombardi
